From cosmetic surgery to sports doping to memory enhancement, medicine is pushing the boundaries of human capabilities. For the past eight months, 12 students from Kent Place School, through The Ethics Institute at Kent Place in conjunction with scholars from The Hastings Center, researched the ethical issues raised by the use of medicine to modify human bodies.
Each student selected a case study of human modification to study in depth over several months. A project workshop at The Hastings Center allowed students to present their preliminary work, receive feedback, and engage in sustained discussion. Students were also able to benefit from resources and information provided by Hastings Center research scholars.
